The Old Ship Hotel is housed in a building that dates all the way back to the 16th century – though the imposing façade is from the Victorian era. The medium sized lobby is appointed in an attractive style that has a distinct nautical flavour to it (as befits the hotel’s name.)
The hotel itself plays an integral part of Brighton’s history, closely linked with the Royal Escape of Charles II, accommodating guests to the Royal Pavilion throughout it's history and housing the unique and elegant assembly rooms, where many a grand occasion has been held from the Prince Regent's Ball in 1819, to Nicolo Paganini's violin recital in 1831 and the Banquet celebrating the opening of the London to Brighton Railway in 1841.
The 131 guestrooms are decorated in vibrant colours to reflect the nautical location, the rooms are light and airy and include quality features such as wireless internet access, complimentary refreshment trays, iron and ironing board. Rooms are traditional in style with modern furnishings. Though unique in size and layout, all of them are clean and well maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms.
The Location3 Restaurant offers a taste of the continental in a modern setting overlooking Brighton promenade and is a popular eatery with tourists and locals alike. On great summer days, guests can also enjoy the busy street life from the hotel bar's sun-drenched Al Fresco area. Furnished with leather Chesterfield settees, the bar offers a good selection of light meals and snacks from 8.00am to 10.00pm.
